Hosanagara Hanging Bridge
A pedestrian suspension bridge over the Varada River, popular for a short scenic walk
CategoryRiver & Lake
TalukHosanagara
DistanceAbout 47 km from Sagara, close to Hosanagara town
Best timeOctober–March
The hanging bridge at Hosanagara is a pedestrian suspension bridge across the Varada River, built as much for utility as for the view, and it's become a minor local attraction in its own right — walking across it gives a gentle sway underfoot and open views up and down the river.
The setting, ringed by areca plantations and forest, makes it an easy add-on to a half-day loop around Hosanagara rather than a destination people travel far for on its own.
Highlights
- A swaying pedestrian suspension bridge across the Varada River, a Tungabhadra tributary
- Surrounded by areca plantations, forest and calm riverbanks
- A popular, low-effort stop for photography and short family outings
Getting there
Buses on the Thirthahalli to Sagara route get you to Sagara — the bridge is a further ~47 km by local transport, via Hosanagara.
